You Have a Spiritual Gift!
All Christians have spiritual gifts. Did you know what yours is? Do you want to know what it is? The best gift we all have access to is forgiveness through Christ. He paid it all for us to have the gift of forgiveness.
You also have a spiritual gift is intended to equip one for a specific function. As you Bible journal, pray for God to reveal His gifts to you. We are only able to carry out our appointed tasks by working and remaining in union with God.
So how do you remain in union with God? By seeking things above-- focusing on our heavenly Father and His will and staying out of the world. Read your Bible and pray for wisdom. God promises He will give it to you if you ask. (James 1:5)
God gives spiritual gifts to His people so that they might be enabled for ministry. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 says: A demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial:
- to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit,
- to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit,
- to another, faith by the same Spirit,
- to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit,
- to another, the performing of miracles,
- to another, prophecy,
- to another, distinguishing between spirits,
- to another, different kinds of languages,
- to another interpretation of languages.
But one and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as He wills.
According to Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary The phrase, “spiritual gifts,” does not appear as such in the NT. It has gained common usage, though, in referring to what Scripture identifies as the God-granted empowerment for ministry on the part of believers. Scripture specifically employs these terms: “gifts” (Gk. domata, Eph. 4:8), “spiritual things” (pneumatika, 1 Cor. 12:1), “graces” (charismata, Rom. 12:6; 1 Cor. 12:4, 9, 28, 30–31; 1 Pet. 4:10), “workings” (energemata, 1 Cor. 12:6), and “manifestation” (phanerosis, 1 Cor. 12:7).
Paul emphasizes the diversity that is to be found in the church, the body of Christ, as reflected in the various spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 12:1–31; Rom. 12:3–8). Indeed, the variety of types of gifts is remarkable. Scholars have made various attempts to classify the types of gifts. The Oxford dictionary of the Christian Church lists seven gifts of the Holy Spirit:
